The Bucket List by CJ Murphy

2019 Rainbow Award Honorable Mention

This is truly an amazing book. I’ve never read anything like it! While this book is a romance it is so very much more. There is mystery, adventure, and a bit of paranormal thrown in to make things even more interesting! This is also a book about relationships. Not just between the insanely hot leads (Professor Jordan Armstrong and Professor Noeul Scott) but also their interactions with family, friends, and a deceased wife, who are key in making these two wonderful women who they are. Now to the good stuff… Romance is almost a given (as it is labeled a romance book) but the thing is, you have to wait for it…. Ms. Murphy is such a tease and so darn good at what she does (hot lesbian firefighters KNOW what we want!!!) has made Jordan a very respectful soul so this is a long and slow burn that will leave you wanting and needing long before the professors unite as one. OMG the sensual and sexy dance between them that started the flame flickering with lust and desire will make you burn and ache as much as they do… Very hot!! (I’ll bet you think of them for a long time after reading this book, whew!!!

Beautiful

Val and Laurel are very memorable and you cannot help wanting things to work out for

them and not just the romance. It was a joy to watch them struggle with their issues and come out on top. The secondary characters were wonderful supporting actors but did not overstep their boundaries.

This was a very touching and emotional read. I found myself crying as Val struggled and as their love and commitment to each other grew. It was such a good book! I think most women will love it due to the content and the author is a remarkable storyteller and this is a great book that she created. I found it hard to put down and found myself waking up in the middle of the night and picking it back up instead of sleeping. It was very emotional and the sex scenes were smoking hot and needed for the story, not just stuck in there for the sake of sex. I know I will be thinking about this book for weeks to come.

Scatter by Molly J. Bragg

Let me start off by stating that it is a good thing that Scatter is Book One in the Hearts of Heroes Series. Knowing I will not be leaving these wondrous characters behind at the end of the novel eases my separation anxiety. The characters include Danny, the Deputy US Marshal who is newly assigned to the Superhero support detail or Ayanda, aka Focus, the alien Superhero keeping the world safe will hopefully return. I look forward to more of Rachel, Jia Li, and Eurion who are Dragons that shape-shift into human forms when necessary. Fingers crossed that all these plus new characters will fill the pages of book two.

Scatter captured my full attention from page one. Bragg drops you completely into her world without fanfare. You easily learn as you go about the Superheroes, Super-Villains, and magical creatures in this world which resembles our own but is so much cooler. Case in point, Dragons + Aliens.

The storyline is an imaginative twist to the continuum of time and space in relationship to events. The author adeptly handles the complexities allowing the reader to fully engage in the story. This is an exceptional debut novel from Bragg and should not be missed.

Changing Seasons by B.J. Phillips

--From Laure Deherbecourt:

I think it’s a very good book … It’s what you need from time to time, just an easy-to-read novel, telling us a sweet love story (well, 3 love stories in one, in this case). The author’s good writing style and subtle touches of humor were still there. The characters are still funny and touching at the same time. There is a little bit more angst and drama than in the previous 2 novels. But it’s still a sweet and tender hymn to Love which can be found anywhere, anytime … at any age !! And good proof that family isn’t always just composed of blood relatives … the heart family is as important as the blood one (I know this very well ‘cause I’m lucky to have one … ). It’s good to have 2 couples of middle-aged women but it’s also great, for once, to have an even more mature couple ‘cause, nope, not all the couples in lesfic can be in their twenties and have some toned bodies exited right from some fantasies .. And, personally, I prefer from very far, the more realistic persons. I loved the older couple’s intimate scene … it just felt sexy & romantic, so, in a word: authentic.

Across A Crowded Room by Jane Alden

“Great detail and description about the era in general, and sadly, about how women were treated during this time. It was all too clear how far we’ve come, but also how much we have to lose under current political directions. Skillfully written and evocative, and in places, beautifully, flirtatiously, and tastefully erotic. I look forward to much more from this excellent writer!”
