Lee Sato

A new lesbian detective – A witty, entertaining and exciting first novel with engaging characters that I would like to meet again! I’m looking forward to the sequel. 5.0 out of 5 stars by jusmeaHornet’s Nest – July 25, 2025 RELEASE!

Brace yourself for a summer thriller that will leave you questioning everyone’s motives and turning pages long into the night. “Hornet’s Nest”, the highly anticipated new novel by Lee Sato, is set to release July 25th, 2025 — and reviews are buzzing!!! … Cleopatra Patel

“A true mystery… It was really good! So many twists. I was hooked!” – BookishPenguin

“There’s something electric in the way Sato blends vulnerability with control. Her sentences don’t just move the story—they cut, comfort, and confront. A vital new voice with something urgent to say.”… Randy Edelman

“Sato’s characters are messy, magnetic, and utterly real. You don’t observe them—you recognize them. This is the kind of storytelling that doesn’t flinch, and doesn’t let you look away.”…. Mickey Burns

“This book feels like finding an old journal written by someone who somehow knew your secrets. It’s poetic, fearless, and achingly precise.” Michael Musto

… This book was an interesting twist of mystery and family drama. …  Since Annie is not a detective or even amateur P.I., this is not a mystery that you follow clue after clue to get to the killer. I thought the way Kindred handled the mystery worked for the type of book it was. There was also a few exciting scenes that I enjoyed so I was happy about that. … This book does look to be the first of a series. In fact while the main story was tied up, there is a big loose end left open so I’m glad that there may be a book 2. … I thought Kindred wrote a good debut and I would not hesitate to read whatever she puts out next.” 4.0 out of 5 stars Lex

Biography

I currently live in the Midwest with my partner of 20 years and with our two doodles, Truffle and Roux. I graduated from college with a BA in both Psychology and Journalism. With over more than 30 years of professional life, I was eager to venture into another phase of adventure.

During my career, I worked with gangs in the 80s, adolescent and child psychiatry in the 90s and crimes against children and human trafficking until 2017. I never expected my career to take me down such dark paths and experiences. The faces of troubled teens and abused children haunted my dreams. Although I worked with amazing professionals in local law enforcement, state police and the FBI; closure and justice were rarely the outcome.

One day, after commuting between home and office, I felt compelled to start writing again. Not case notes or reports, but something more, something different. After my retirement in 2017, I was able to take my thoughts and dreams and put them down on paper. Although this is my first book, I have enjoyed writing for many years. Before I knew it, I had the rough draft of my first novel. My partner encouraged me to keep going, to polish it into something publishable. I have since completed a second book, almost ready for editing, and am working on my third. So here I am, venturing into the world of authorship.
